LIFE LINES
Greetings and welcome everyone to the assemblies and Bible study of the 38th Street church. To those visiting here today, we extend a special greeting, and our appreciation for your presence.
May God continue to bless us all as we remain faithful in our service to Him.
******************************
Today begins the second quarter of our Bible School year, as far as the Sunday classes are concerned. For adult participants in our Bible study period, we are returning to three separate classes as opposed to the single auditorium class we’ve offered during the summer months.
Earl Ash will resume his class in the center section of the multi-purpose room, I will have a group meeting in the southeast corner of the auditorium, and the ladies, led by Juanita Brown, will assemble in the south end of the multi-purpose room. All three classes will be continuing with the curriculum begun in July. Today, we start looking at the life of Daniel and the blessings and guidance God gave him as a captive first in Babylon, then in the Medo-Persian Empire. These lessons are all a part of the “Bible Study For All Ages” that is being used on all levels from the youngest children through adults.
If you have not been attending a class, now would be a great opportunity to start to do so. This is the first lesson on Daniel, and you can begin at the start of a series of lessons, as opposed to coming into a situation where you don’t know what’s been covered before you attended the class.
Choose a class and stay for the Bible study period, today and every Sunday you can.
October 26th. Just four Sundays from today. That’s being called our “Friends And Family Day.” Invite someone to come with you that day, and let us know who you’ve spoken to so that: 1.) we can send them a special invitation from the 38th Street family to visit us that day, and 2.) we can pray for you and your guests. There is a box in the foyer in which to place names and address of invitees, along with your name so that we can tell with whom to associate guests and for whom to pray.
Plan to be here that day, stay for a combined adult Bible class which will meet in the auditorium, and participate in the fellowship luncheon to follow the class period.
Let’s be getting ready now for a great Lord’s
Day on October 26th.
--God bless, Lance

Friends and Family Day
Sunday, October 26th
Family Matters
Prayer List: Our list of hospitalized grew at the end of the week before last, with both Howard Moffett and Evelyn Poole being admitted to Aultman Hospital on Saturday, September 27th. Evelyn had a spell thought to have been brought on by a problem with medication, and Howard had an incident on Saturday evening that was, at first, thought to be a light stroke. Testing seemed to have ruled that out by the start of this week. Also at Aultman is Bob Franks, who continues to make progress toward a recovery after many complications following his heart bypass surgery. Gil Plummer was at home last week, recuperating from his shoulder surgery and Lila Hughes was still at Aultman-Woodlawn as this week began. Marge Johnson, a friend of Ellen Day, was to have surgery this past Monday, and Bonnie Day, Ellen’s daughter-in-law, is still having problems with her pancreas. Rich Stalnaker, Sharon’s husband, is scheduled for surgery on his injured shoulder on Tuesday of this week (October 7th). Others to remember in prayer: Orion Kindall, Harry’s brother in the Columbus area who has dementia and is not doing well; Mary Smith, a niece of Karen Smith, who has a pinched nerve in her back; those with cancer; those at home and ill; those in military service (Dan Garrison, Matt Laubacher; Justin May; David Woofter); the leadership of the 38th Street church; and, our Shut-Ins.
Deaths: We extend our sincerest sympathy to those families at 38th Street who have recently lost loved ones in death.
Last Monday, September 28th, Ina Strickling passed away at Affinity Medical Center. To her family we offer our sincere condolences. Her funeral service was held on Friday, the 3rd, at 1:30 PM at the Reed Funeral Home in Canton.
Ray Ward, a former member of the congregation, and the brother-in-law of Howard Moffett, uncle of Richard and Bill Dimit, and brother-in-law of Fern Dimit, passed from this life on Wednesday morning, September 24th, at Mercy Medical Center. Ray and his wife, Sara, were active members of the Young-In-Heart group after they’d placed their membership with the Southwest Church of Christ, and Ray was a great supporter of the Christian Training School for many years, serving as Southwest’s congregational representative. Ray also was an elder with the Southwest church. To Sara and all of his family we offer our condolences.
At the end of the week before last, Beulah Thompson, the mother of Bonnie Finzer, died, and her funeral service was this past Monday afternoon, September 29th. Many at 38th Street knew “Bea”, and we are sorry for the loss that family has had.
And, also at the end of the week before last, on Saturday, September 27th, Stella Rager, an aunt of Dorothy Kahrig, passed away. Her service was on Tuesday of this week in Massillon.
Baby Shower: There will be a baby shower for Jennifer Delbrugge TODAY from 2-5 PM here at the building. If you would like to contribute toward a group gift, see Barb Reed, Ellen Meyers, or Kathy Kruger.
Birthday Fellowship / Annual Weiner Roast: This month’s gathering is going to be on Sunday evening, October 12th. Each family should bring hot dogs and buns. Come celebrate all those who have October birthdays and fellowship with each other outside in the pavilion.
